On Sunday, 30th May 2010, Mizutani Bicycle Company hosted the very first Brompton Japanese Championship at the Japan Automobile College in Narita. The race comprised 10 laps of a closed 1.2km circuit, making the distance only slightly shorter than the UK's World Championship course.

The field was limited to 150 places, split into male and female categories. Staying true to the urban experience, and in keeping with the World Championship rules, all participants were required to wear business attire.

First-placed position, for both the fastest male and female categories, was rewarded with a return flight to London and entry to the Brompton World Championship 2010 in October.
