The Brompton US Championship registration and start/finish line are located close to Memorial Hall.
Memorial Hall is located in West Fairmount Park at 4321 N. Concourse Drive (recently renamed Avenue of the Republic, though generally still called N. Concourse Drive).
This is about 3 miles from 30th St. Amtrak Station. Easily accessible by bicycle, via the West River Drive bike path from Center City Philadelphia.
About Memorial Hall
Designed by Hermann J. Schwarzmann for
the 1876 Centennial Exhibition, Memorial Hall is made of brick, glass,
iron and granite. The building is 365 ft by 210 ft and 150 ft tall at
the top of the building's most distinctive feature, an iron and glass
dome. The top of the dome is adorned with a twenty-three-foot-tall
statue of Columbia (the poetic symbol of the United States) holding the
laurel branch of glory. At the ends of the main façade sit figures
symbolizing industry and commerce. Memorial Hall now houses the Please
Touch Museum, an interactive children’s museum.
Getting there from 30th St. Amtrak Station:
By bicycle
Exit station by 29th st. (east exit) . Walk with care to south side of Market St. and head east to cross the Market St. Bridge. On E. side of Bridge, an opening leads right to ramp down to the Schuylkill River Bike Path. Go towards the Philadelphia Museum of Art (ie, keep the river to your left). At the top of long rise, do NOT use the underpass. Bear right at the small plaza and traffic signal to enter West River Drive. Cross with caution and go left (across the river) on the West River Drive. Use the sidewalk bike path (or the roadway, if closed to traffic) about 1.5 mi. After crossing under Girard Ave. Bridge, look for Sweetbriar Rd. Go left on Sweetbriar just one block, then right (uphill) on Lansdowne Dr. (long curving road uphill) At 41st St., make a right, then quick left on Avenue of the Republic (aka North Concourse Dr.) ride through the big stone columns to find start/registration area. Memorial Hall is the huge building with the dome. Registration will be about 100 yards east, closer to the big columns.
