


1. Organization The Philly Phlyer Collegiate Cycling Race will host the first annual Brompton US Championship [the Event], which will take place at Memorial Hall, West Fairmount Park, Philadelphia PA, on March 20, please see event flyer for official start time. Registered riders must be at the starting line no later than a half hour before the event.
2. Definition of the Event The Event will consist of a Brompton folder bicycle race of 6.1 miles, a single lap of a closed circuit. The circuit will be marshalled and marked where needed. It is a U.S.A. Cycling registered event.
3. Participants Participants must be 18 years or older, riding a Brompton and in general good health; there are no other restrictions on grounds of gender or nationality, etc. The Event is currently limited to 100 participants. To repeat, this event is limited to Brompton make bicycles. Bicycles must be in safe condition; organizers reserve the right to refuse participation and refund entry fees, should any participant's bike, in our sole judgement, be considered unsafe for competition. Children or pets may NOT be carried on bicycles during the Event.
4. Categories All participants will be entered in the individual category, within which there will be sub-classifications for male and female participants.
5. Dress code All participants, both male and female, must wear a suit jacket, collared shirt and neck tie. Shorts, three-quarter length trousers and skirts may be worn if preferred, though visible sports attire (e.g. Lycra shorts/leggings, tracksuit pants, etc.) is not permitted. There are no restrictions on shoe-wear. For health and safety reasons, it is an absolute condition of participation that an approved cycling helmet is to be worn.
6. Advertising Participants may wear promotional logos or advertising slogans on their clothing subject to a pre-payment of $50. No such advertising is permitted on the bikes, and any advertising must on no account obscure the participants' numbers on their bikes.
7. Registration Deadline for online registration is Wed. Mar. 10, 2010, or when the race is full, whichever occurs first. Registrations are only valid upon the payment of the entry fee of $25 which includes insurance. T-shirts will be available for early registration received by Feb 20th, 2010. Walk-up registration may be available but is NOT guaranteed and will end two hours before start time in any event.
8. Race materials All participants are to collect their numbers in person on the day of the event. ID may be requested and participation refused to those without proper ID.
9. Prizes The three fastest male and female finishers will receive awards, as well as the best-dressed competitors, male and female. The top-placed male and female competitors will each receive the Grand Prize: roundtrip airfare and prepaid entry to the Brompton World Championship in England, October 2010.
The BWC and its satellite events are open events, anyone can compete in as many races as they like within the same calendar year; however, they can only take the 1st place prize of any satellite event (return flights and free entry to the BWC) once. A winner of any satellite event is free to claim the first place prize and position of the BWC.
10. Race timing Professional video recording and officials will be utilized at the finish line.
11. Accidents and damage All participants taking part in the Event do so entirely at their own risk. Neither the Philly Phlyer, nor Brompton Bicycle Ltd, nor any of its organising partners, agents, assigns or volunteers, warrants expressly or by implication the safety of participants, nor do the same offer any guarantees against damage, loss or harm to property, or against injury or death to participants or other. Neither publication of these rules, nor a participant's compliance with them, shall be taken to confer any liability on the organisers of the Event.
12. Challenges to results The organisers shall hear all challenges concerning any results of the Event immediately after the same have been announced. Such challenges will only be heard and adjudicated upon after the conclusion of the race, and all decisions will be final; on no account will the race be stopped to adjudicate on any protest.
13. Acceptance of the rules By registering for and taking part in the Event, participants indicate that they understand and accept, completely and without any variation, the rules of the Event and the stipulations contained therein.
